Landfills saturated with metals pollute the land, air, and nearby water

resources. This has a negative effect on the health of humans, animals and

marine life. When products are dumped in landfill, the energy used to

make them is lost. Recycling them can help us recover some of this energy.

Recycling organic waste also helps us reduce the impact on our climate by

reducing the amount of methane gas released into the atmosphere. As a

result, the total amount of waste destined for incineration is reduced

which makes a positive difference to the environment.
